Callie goes to school!

Last week I had to go back to work and Callie had to start "school"- daycare. Not only did I have some reservations about even going back to work, I never thought that having her start daycare would be so hard as well! Well by weeks end I had held back the tears, she was sleeping an extra hour each night and all was well in the Granger house. Ms. Lillian and Ms. Candy are her teachers and we like them very much. Callie wasn't a model student though, apparently I had spoiled her on our time together- but I say- who could resist?! She is doing better about entertaining herself now which really helps us out and is even doing better on tummy time. So, so far so good I say!

2 Month Check Up

Tuesday Callie had her two month check up and she was a trooper! She had three shots and only cried for a little bit- I on the other hand cried more than she did. She's growing beautifully and is on her way to be a big girl: 23 3/4 inches (90%) and 12.5 lbs (90%). The Dr. said she's not worried about her weight because she's so tall, so, we'll keep on feeding her the good stuff! :)

Here Comes Santa Claus!

Last weekend we got to see Santa for the first time! She was great sitting with him, although I don't think she actually ever "saw" him since she had her head turned the whole time. :) While we were there we met up with the Dupree's. Emory got a candy cane from Santa which she so graciously shared with Callie. Hopefully that means she's on the nice list!

Visitors!

Over the last week and a half we have had some visitors. My cousin Kate, her husband Andy and their son William stopped by to see us! Callie and William hadn't met yet so it was great to see the two together. Pretty soon they'll be able to play together!

We also had DR's girlfriend Laura's brother and family in town. We've been wanting to see them for a while now because they have a little girl that's only a month older than Callie who's name is Callie! Although our Callie slept through the whole get together and dinner, we loved seeing them and can't wait for them to visit again!Callie Cook and Callie Granger

Clemson vs Carolina

After a busy Thanksgiving it was nice to visit with Graham and Neel who came in town for the holiday! We watched our first Carolina Clemson game with them. It took everything I had not to dress her up in total orange and purple, she did have her Clemson blanket though!

Getting a little tired from all the cheering. Thanks Neel for letting me nap! :)

Happy Thanksgiving!

We had a great first Thanksgiving as a family! Callie was a little overwhelmed by all the new people and was fussy for a portion of the day. But overall we had a great time seeing everyone!

4-Eyes

For some reason I love to put my glasses on babys/kids. Don't know why, maybe because they look so darn cute in them?! Well Callie of course was no exception to this fascination and got the chance to wear them. As cute as they are on her, I pray that she gets Vaughn's healthy eyes and won't need glasses/contacts. So for now, we'll just play pretend, at least until we can start grabbing and breaking them! :)

Smile!

Callie is starting to smile! She loves a high pitched voice and when you tickle her nose. These were taken this morning during play time, she's so cute!!

Swim Swim Swim

This weekend Vaughn had his second swim meet! Callie and I went to cheer him on in all his races. He did great- improving his 50 free by 2 seconds! As many of you know, Vaughn was "teaching" Callie how to swim before she was born by talking to her through my belly. We haven't tested it out yet to see if his technique actually worked, but we'll let you know come spring/summer time!

What's new?

The last week and a half have been challenging with Callie. Although she is still an EASY baby compared to horror stories, she hasn't been feeling like her usual self. Last weekend she was having trouble with her formula and spitting up a great amount, chocking on her spit up, and was very cranky if we weren't holding her. She also broke out in hives on her back. So on Monday I took her to the doctors office to see what was going on. The spit up ends up was being caused by acid reflux which she is now on medication for- and doing much better!! The hives on her back and now chest is cradle cap and we are treating it with dandruff shampoo and is clearing up. She's becoming a new women! :) Also, while at the doctors office, she was weighed and she's now 10lbs 7oz! She's our little piglet and we love her!!

We are getting ready for daddy's birthday tomorrow, he's going to be 26!

Happy Halloween!

We took Callie on her first trip to the pumpkin patch and she had a blast! Can't you tell? Really we did it just for the picture and to pick up a pumpkin. It was great to celebrate Halloween with her and I can't wait until next year when we can dress her up in a cute costume and go visit everyone!

Play Time

She loves looking at herself on her play mat! She also loves the music that it plays. We've also noticed that she loves anything with rap- she is definitely Vaughn's child! haha

First Bath!

Callie's belly button finally fell off the night before last! So last night she got her first bath and she loved it! As long as she had warm water on her she was a happy camper.

So what do you do all day?

2 week

Callie had her two week check up last week. She has already gained a pound (8lbs 12oz) and grew a 1/2 an inch (22 inches)! Her belly button still hasn't fallen off yet, but is just about to. We are eating well, and will let you know when we are hungry by showing off how strong our lungs are! She is an absolute angel. God blessed Vaughn and I with such a wonderful child. I think he knew what we would be able to handle and that is exactly what we got. Callie is sleeping great, only waking up twice in the night which is great for mom and dad. :) She loves the be held, which I love, but I can see where that could be a problem in the future!

Update!

Now that Callie is three weeks old, which is REALLY hard to believe, I guess it's time to update the blog! The past three weeks have been a whirl wind of excitement. She is absolutely amazing. She loves to eat and sleep, just like her parents, and rarely cries- unless she needs to eat! SO I guess I should really start from the day she was born, so here we go..

Monday, October 6th
Vaughn and I checked into the hosptial at 5:30 that morning to get the induction process started. I didn't sleep a wink, I was so excited and had really bad heartburn (so happy that's over!). They started me on iv fluids and then at 6:30ish Dr. Hanna came to break my water. Contractions started immediately and I was surprised on how they weren't as painful as I had imagined. Well as time went on, I realized that an epidural was the way to go for sure. I received the epidural at 10:30- the Dr. left in the middle of it to put someone down the hall asleep! At 2:30- 3:00 I had only progressed to about 6 centimeters, so that's when we realized that we were in it for the long haul. About that time they switched my iv out to give me something with sugar in it- I wasn't feel so great- and then check me again- I was at 9! So they got me ready and I pushed for about 45 minutes. She needed some help coming out, so they suctioned her head. Next thing I know, they are say "Look down, here's your baby!" I looked and was SO excited to see a head FULL of hair (it was the ONE thing I really cared about my baby having! haha) They then said "It's a girl!" and the water works started down my face! :) Vaughn was great through the whole process, he stayed on his two feet right beside my head. It truly was the most amazing experience that I could have ever hoped for! Here are some pics from that day.

Erin and Vaughn were blessed with a beautiful baby girl!

Callie McNair Granger
October 6, 2008
6:18pm
7 pounds, 12 ounces, 21.5 inches long

Congratulations Erin & Vaughn! Love and prayers for all THREE of you!

Erin has asked me to update her blog for all of you. Just wanted you all to know this is a message from me and not her! I got an email from Amy with the update tonight! Thanks Amy!

She's perfectly healthy with a head full of dark red hair and full little lips. Callie, mommy, and daddy are doing great, but exhausted. They're resting up and getting to know their precious bundle of joy. I'm sure Erin will be back to update in a couple weeks when she's recouperated. Here's a few pictures to tide you over until then!

Much love, Lucia

Welcome to the world Callie McNair!

It's a girl! Stay tuned for more news very soon!

And the countdown begins!

Mark your calendars! Baby G will be here no later than October 8, 2008! We are scheduled to induce on the 8th, however, Dr. Hanna thinks we might go a little sooner than that. The baby is estimated at about 8 lbs now- YIKES, so the sooner the better getting it out. I'd like to not have the baby be able to walk out of the hospital. :)

Baby Names

So Vaughn spilled the beans on the two names we have picked out for Baby Granger!  So I figured I'll share them as well.  If it's a girl her name will be Cally McNair and if it's a boy it'll be Trevor Vaughn!  Cally comes from my dad's side of the family- Callard.  It's my grandmother's maiden name and dad's middle name; and McNair is my middle name! Trevor is just a name that we really liked and Vaughn, we'll I think you can figure that much out. :)

Doctor update

This morning we had another appointment to see if I've progressed, and I haven't. Still the same, DANG! Dr. Hanna stated that I won't deliver in the month of September, and probably not that rest of the week. However, he did state that it was possible that we'll deliver the week of October 6th and would even consider indusing us that week! The baby is currently measuring around 7.3 lbs, which really scares me waiting a couple more weeks. We don't think it'll go to much over 8 lbs, lets hope not. That's it for now, looks like no relief from the heartburn, peeing 20 times a day, and back pain for atleast a couple more weeks. We'll keep trucking along and just pray that it's healthy and happy!

Two Months...

I know I know, two months since the last post, pretty bad. The nice this about it is I only have about 2 more weeks of being preggers! YAY! We are so ready to meet Baby Granger we can hardly stand it. Vaughn has event asked that I say "Baby" or "No Baby" when I call his cell phone now just so he knows whether to drop what he's doing and RUN! haha I go for a check up tomorrow to see how I've progressed. Last week I was at 1 centimeter, so at least that's something. Hopefully it's progressed a little more. We finally have names too! Last Friday Vaughn and I had date night and finally decided on a name for a boy and a girl, we love them and hope you will to- if not, too bad because you have no choice! :)

We've also had some great friends throw us some baby showers. I only have pictures from Amy and Chollet's but all were great!

Update

Yesterday we had another check up with the doctor. We had another ultrasound which was so much fun to see how much the baby has grown in 4 weeks. The baby's head is measuring two weeks ahead of where we actually are, uh oh... haha I also got to see the baby move it's mouth, almost like it was smacking or sucking. Hands were at the face like usual. I asked about if my due date would change because the baby is so large, no luck, still set for the 15th of October. Still no names picked out for the little one. We can't really agree on any one name, although we have several that we both agree that we like. It'll come down to the last minute before we have a name I'm afraid!

Dallas!

I finally got to go out to Dallas, it's been a little over a year since I got the chance. I had a great time catching up with Lucia and Rob and meeting Little Lucia (or Little Rob, she is defiantly her father's child!).
