Potty Training, or not

Chloe has decided that she no longer wears diapers.  She literally woke up and now refuses to wear a diaper.  We totally skipped the potty training part of the whole process.  I have no idea if that is even normal, but it’s working!  She tells me when she needs to go potty and has only had a couple of accidents since her decision.  When she sets her mind to something, world you better watch out because she means to see if through!  We are now a house that doesn’t have any diapers (except at night) and that feels odd to be honest.  Four years of changing a little one’s diaper every day to not has been a nice change of pace.

Way to go Chloe, you make this momma proud!

Chloe’s First Haircut

Callie was due for a haircut and I thought while we were there Chloe might as well get one too!  When I called to set the appointment she happen to have an opening on Halloween, and since Callie had her first haircut on Halloween I had to set it then!  They were both dressed up from their Halloween parties earlier in the day, which made these pictures that much more fun

Callie went first to show Chloe how a big girl gets her hair cut

Then it was Chloe’s turn!  She sat up there like a pro.  She wasn’t a huge fan of the water being sprayed on her hair though

Callie’s 1st Day of School

We couldn’t believe that the day had finally come, Callie’s 1st Day of School!  We had talked about this day for a while now with Callie and she seemed excited about it too.  Mac even told me at one point “Don’t cry momma, it’ll be okay.”  Yeah, okay, I’ll try.  She’s in the Two’s group at Eastminster; she’s one of the oldest in the class because of where her birthday falls only going two days a week.  Well, you know when you envision a day, how it would go, what you’d wear, etc and get all exited about that “envision” then it turns out NOTHING like you wanted it too?!  That was this particular morning.  I saw it with us waking us, having pancakes, smiles all around while we got ready in our pretty dress, a cute picture on the front steps and we’d head off to school with our book bag ready to go!  Yeah, right… here’s how it really went down…

Callie woke up in a whinny mood, this happens on occasion and we try to just go with it, not giving it attention cause that usually fuels it.  Just one look at this face and you can see what I’m talking about…IMG_6702She only perked up when Vaughn came down, this girl LOVES her daddyIMG_6705We sat down to have our pancakes, only to realize that there was no more syrup in the pantry, so we went with honey instead, I don’t think she minded, but still…  I tried to get a picture of her eating, had to get the hair just right1st Day of School 8-9After both girls got dressed, which included screaming because I wasn’t doing this or that right, we headed downstairs to get a quick picture on the front steps.  Before I could even get to my camera, we had meltdowns… she pulled out her bow and ponytail because it wasn’t “like daddy likes it.”  This was my view, both the girls crying on my leg…photo

I wasn’t going to be defeated by the tears!  I fixed her hair the way “daddy likes it.”  This is just a simple ponytail, but the only way I can get her hair out of her face.  To the front steps where she refused to take a picture, these are what I got…1st Day of School 8-91

Chloe wanted to see what was going on, she LOVES standing here, and I LOVE those legs! :)IMG_6718

I have learned with Mac that if you run around she eeks out a little smile, so that’s what I did and we got these two cute ones.  Not what I had in mind of a first day of school picture, but hey, I’ll Take it!

We loaded up in the car with everyone in a little bit of a funk, but we couldn’t be late to our first day of school! We got to school where Daddy showed up to go with us and that perked her up BIG time.  By now, the early morning whining and crying is gone and our happy silly Mac is back!  Thank. Goodness.  She was now so excited to go to her classroom she ran down the hall to get there.4

We waited outside the classroom to go inside.  Found our name on the board..

Right after this, we took her in where she acted like she’d done it many times before.  We left, I didn’t cry (surprise),  and didn’t get a phone call to pick her up.  When I cam back to pick her up, they were all sitting at their table reading a book, something she loves to do!  She was so happy, not to necessarily to see me, but to tell me what she did that day.  She told me all about her playing basketball, painting a picture, reading books, and going potty on the tiny potty!  I was so happy that she perked up when we got there, and that her first day of school went great!  Not the morning that I had imagined, but what it was meant to be.  Callie is already excited to go back on Thursday, she goes Tuesdays and Thursday, and loves the fact they have little potties- who knew?!  Hoping that Thursday morning will go a little smoother than Tuesdays, I think once our routine gets going, it’ll all get easier.

So here’s to a great 1st Year of School Callie Mac, we love you!

Granger Beach Week- Boat Ride

We decided to take a break from the beach and pool and go for a boat ride on the Intercostal Waterway!  This was Chloe’s first ride on the boat, which meant first life vest ever worn!  After some a lot of work to get her into it, she was set to go on her first rideGranger Beach Week8

IMG_5676

She wasn’t on the boat more than a couple of minutes and she was out.  I guess the rocking of the boat and sound of the engine did it for her

IMG_5688IMG_5689

Callie easily found herself at home on the boat, walking around a little too much for my liking

She really loved to cuddy cabin with Uncle D IMG_5719

Sitting with my big girl!  We loved looking at all the scenery together.  We all played the “I’d live there” game- There were gorgeous houses on the waterway and we all had our favorites!Granger Beach Week

We rode up to Sunset Beach, where we heading for Rowland Beach Week in just a couple days, and stopped to get some lunch.  The girls did great, never getting fussy, thank goodness.  It’ll probably be a while until they ride on a boat again, but it’s nice to know they’ll do great when they do!

Thunderstorms and Callie

Callie is apparently not a fan of thunderstorms.  I can’t say I blame her, I used to be TERRIFIED of them myself.  Last night we had quite a large storm come in with lightening, thunder, wind, rain.  It was such a strong storm our back door flew open, setting off the alarm.  It also seemed to happen all at once, which woke Vaughn and I up in a panic, and Callie up in absolute terror.  She RAN screaming into our room and jumped into our bed.  It was the first time that she’s ever done that- out of fear.  It was a momma & daddy moment like never before.  To be able to make your little one feel safe by cuddling up is something I can’t explain.  I loved it.  She, however, is not excited about the upcoming weather report either- storms for the next week.  Looks like we’ll have Callie crawling in our bed a couple of times for the next week, and we’re okay with that. :)

Chloe’s 1st Tooth!

Chloe’s first tooth has popped through!  After month’s of drooling and gumming everything, a little tooth has shown up.  I figured it was coming soon, however, I thought the same with Callie.  Mac was teething about this same time, but hers never came until two weeks before her birthday.  It seems to just now be really bother Chloe though, getting really fussy at certain points in the day.  A little Tylenol and she’s good to go.  Can’t wait to see if more are soon to follow!

Callie’s Dance Recital

Today marked Callie’s very first dance recital.  The parents of the “Tiny Toes” class decided that instead of a traditional up on the stage recital, we’ll keep it simple and have it during one of their classes.  This in no way dampened Callie’s excitement of her big day!  I tried to get pictures of her in the room before everyone showed up, however, she wouldn’t stay still for anything!Dance Recital1

Ms. Haley took the girls in the room to go through the dance one more time and get the nerves/excitement worked out a bit.  While the parents/grandparents waited out side, Chloe got some practice standing up, I think she likes the view :)

Dance Recital2 It was time for all of us to come in to see the girls do their routine.   We took a video of it, I want to remember this sweetness forever.  Also, if you can’t laugh/giggle at this then I don’t know what to tell you.  I’ve died laughing several times, I LOVE it!

I was SO happy she actually did it!  I could totally see her not even stand there, but she did and more.  We were so proud of her!  Daddy even brought her flowers- she was so happy- Chloe was too!Dance Recital  The proud grandparents!  We missed the Grangers- they were on a trip to the Bahamas- LUCKY! IMG_5388

Way to go Callie Boo!  You did an amazing job, and I’m so proud that you stuck to it!  You never missed a class, even when Chloe was born, because I know you loved it SO much.  Next week we go to get your pictures taken with your class and you get to walk on the big stage.  I think you are more excited to put your dress on again though!IMG_5377
