Vaughn and I were so excited to finally get to Jamaica! After months of waiting and waiting, the day finally came! The girls left and went to the Grangers the night before we left, so we started our vacation a little early with drinks and dinner at Pizza Joint.
The trip took a little longer that we thought going down, a 2.5hr plane ride and then another 1hr drive to the hotel. This 1hr drive actually took about 1.5hrs and heres why. Vaughn and I MISSED our hotel drop off! They stopped by a resort and nobody got off, we knew if was in the town we were supposed to be in, but it’s name didn’t match what our reservations said. So after the bus drove into another town we started questioning what was going on. Vaughn asked our driver and he laughed and said that last stop was ours! So apparently the resort was bought a month ago and they changed the name, which we didn’t know about, ha! The driver was really nice and took us back. We then walked in and immediately got worried about where we were staying. Some construction was going on and there was hardly anyone around. One of those ‘uh oh’ what have we done feelings came over us. After getting to our room and walking around a bit, we realied a bunch of the rooms were being re-done with the new ownership which cause the resort to only be at 20% capacity. This was AMAZING for us. They had all the staff still there to serve us, but there was never more than 5 other people on the beach at one time- heaven!
The first day we took about 10 naps on the beach, never been so relaxed in my life
The food was great and we loved all the restaurants they had
We made friends with one of the staffers and she treated us amazingly! She even brought us some coconut out on the beach
The was was crystal clear with a little reef about 30 yards from the shore line. If you brought some bread from breakfast into the water, little yellow fish would swim up to you and feed off the bread. We seriously did this at least once a day
The only excursion we did was to the Dunns River Falls. It was a waterfall climb and one of the neatest things we’ve ever done
We spent the rest of our last day being lazy on the beach, talking about our girls, and how perfect the trip was for us. We hadn’t taken a trip, just the two of us, since our honeymoon 7 years ago. Vaughn was a little skeptical we’d get along for that many days together (ha!), thankfully we did which means we get to do more of these in the future! I seriously couldn’t have planned a better trip if I tried, I want to go back so badly already. Until then, anytime I hear a Bob Marley song, I’ll close my eyes and picture this amazing place!
