Sick visit

Being sick right before Christmas is no fun.  Chloe was on antibiotics already for an ear infection, however I didn’t think it was working.  Callie was having a nasty cough also, so before Christmas got here I took both the girls in to get a check up.  Apparently everyone else in Columbia had the same idea, cause they were all there too.  We made the most of our hour long visit…

we read lots of books

after the girls were finally seen, we headed to the pharmacy to pick up BOTH of their new prescriptions.  Gotta love a bug that over stays their welcome…

Callie 4 Year, Chloe 2 Year Stats

We finally made it to the Dr.s office for the girls annual visit.  I realized at the last minute that I hadn’t set them up and then it took a month for us to get in at the same time, lesson learned!  The girls were both healthy and are growing fast.  They both got shots, poor Callie got three, and their fingers pricked.  By the way, and a heads up for you other moms, the four year visit is a tough one!  Three shots, fingers pricked, pee in a cup, vision and hearing test, and blood pressure taken- a lot for even a brave girl!  Callie doesn’t have to go back for another year, Chloe in six months- a nice change in pace from going all the time when they’re little :)

Chloe:  Height: 37” (99.3%)  Weight: 36lbs (99.3%)

Callie: Height: 43.8” (98.2%) Weight: 42lbs (87.9%)

October from the phone

After all the apple picking we did, it was time to make some yummy treats.  Apple pies, apple sauce, and apple butter were a few of them!

Chloe’s 18 Month Appointment

It was time for Chloe’s 18th month appointment.  I knew this appointment was going to end rough, 4 shots are never easy on the baby or mom.  Little bug was a trouper though!  She had been on antibiotics to clear up a start of an ear infection and got the clear from that.  We also go the go ahead to introduce the potty.  Chloe, by luck, pooped in the potty one day and also tells me every time she needs a diaper change.  So far she sits on it, but no ‘action.’  We shall see!

I knew Chloe was on the ‘large’ side of the growth chart, but I wasn’t ready for this….

These stats blew me away!  Holy cow.  Dr R stated she wasn’t worried about Chloe missing a meal anytime soon, which obviously she doesn’t do often/ever.  Her next appointment isn’t until 2 years.  Hopefully she can stay we'll enough just taking zyrtec so we don’t have to go back before then!

Chloe 1 Year Dr. Appointment

Turning 1 equals 1 year Doctor appointment and dreaded shots.  Chloe was great during the part of the appointment when nobody but us were in the room.  She hated being measured, didn’t like being looked over by the Dr. and especially didn’t like getting shots.  However, all that being said, she’s a happy healthy “baby” girl!

Height: 32.5inches (99.9%)

Weight: 26lbs (98.5%)

Head Circ.: 48cm (98.8%

Chloe’s Nine Month Appointment

Chloe had a GREAT 9 month Dr.s appointment.  I tend to have mixed feeling about going for a few reasons: cements them getting bigger/older, shots, and usually a couple of things I’m not doing/need to start doing.  This visit was no different.  It confirmed that baby girl is 9 months, but is the size of a 12 month old. (at least).  She got one shot, HepB, but cried very little- thank goodness because I hate seeing that face so sad!  I also found out that sweet little big one was taking too much formula.  Yes, apparently I missed the memo to slow it down a bit when I added food- OPS- I don’t think she minded, but were cutting back (our bank account will appreciate it too).  I was also informed that I need to stop being lazy, I’ve been giving her bottle to her in her bed to let her fall asleep.  Yes, the ease of her holding the bottle was just too easy and got the better of me.  The downside is that she’s now having trouble getting settled for naps, since this was her “paci.”  Were working on the transition, I guess its payback for me trying to take the short cut!  Overall though she got a great report and if all goes well, we won’t be back until her 12 month, 12 MONTH!!!!!, appointment.

Height: 30” ~ Weight: 23.6lbs ~ HC: 47.5

The Dr.s office always gives us a sheet of information when we leave of what to expect in the next couple of months, things we need to start doing/avoiding, etc.  One was safety: safety plugs in electrical sockets, lock cabinets; fence stairways at top and bottom if child has access to either end.  I felt that we were WAY beyond this since she loves electrical sockets, cabinets and stairways- all of those “safety” items have been checked off our list for a while!
